Charlton Athletic could face four away matches in a row to finish off November
Charlton are facing three away matches in a row – with today’s EFL Trophy draw potentially making it four.
The Addicks head to Morecambe and Shrewsbury after next weekend’s League One home game against Plymouth. And their FA Cup tie at either Gateshead or Altrincham has been switched to Friday, December 4 after being selected for live coverage by ITV4.
“It is a brilliant draw – a non-league team against a league team,” Charlton caretaker manager Johnnie Jackson told the South London Press. “They’ll be looking at it as a potential upset and we’ll be looking at it as a great opportunity to get to round three.
“But whoever we play it’s a tough game. Away from home against non-league opposition, they are going to make it difficult. Either ground is one that I’ve never been to. I’m looking forward to going to a new ground and experiencing somewhere new.”
Potential opponents in the EFL Trophy include Aston Villa U21s, Milton Keynes and Forest Green Rovers.
