Charlton Athletic defender has relegation release – and can leave for nothing
Charlton look set to lose Tom Lockyer this summer – with the Wales international having a relegation release clause in his contract.
The 25-year-old centre-back has been among the club’s top performers this season.
The Addicks managed to see off interest from Swansea to land Lockyer in June 2019 on a two-year deal – with the guarantee of first-team football in SE7.
But the South London Press understands that Charlton’s drop into League One – their fate sealed last night – means he is able to leave on a free transfer.
Lockyer played 43 Championship matches for the South Londoners.
His displays earned him a recall to the international set-up with Wales, featuring in four European Championships qualifiers.
