Charlton Athletic defender is playing on with calf injury

Charlton left-back Ben Purrington is playing through the pain of a calf injury

The 23-year-old defender has not missed a minute of Championship football.

Addicks manager Lee Bowyer lacks a natural option if he wants to rest Purrington with Lewis Page yet to be fit this season.

“We’ve got to hope he can keep getting through it because Pagey is already out,” said Bowyer. “We don’t know how long he is going to last.

“If he gets through the next week and a bit we have got the international break and hopefully he can have a bit of a break to try and get it better.”
