Charlton Athletic defender plays part as Wales qualify for Euro 2020
BY RICHARD CAWLEY
Charlton defender Tom Lockyer played the full match for Wales tonight as they sealed automatic qualification for Euro 2020.
The Welsh defeated Hungary 2-0, a double from Juventus midfielder Aaron Ramsey doing the job at Cardiff City Stadium.
Centre-back Lockyer, signed on a free transfer by the Addicks from Bristol Rovers in the summer, has come back into the international frame due to his form for the Championship outfit.
He also featured as Wales won 2-0 in Azerbaijan on Saturday.
Lockyer has been a first-choice pick for Charlton manager Lee Bowyer – featuring 16 times at club level.
It will be only the third major tournament that Wales have qualified for and Ryan Giggs’ side finished runners up to Croatia in Group E.
Crystal Palace keeper Wayne Hennessey pulled off a couple of crucial saves in their latest victory.
