Charlton Athletic defender seals switch to League Two outfit

Charlton Athletic defender Terell Thomas has sealed a move to Carlisle United.

The Addicks are releasing the centre-back and he becomes a free agent on July 1.

Thomas, 28, has agreed a two-year contract with Carlisle, who finished bottom of League One last season.

Carlisle United boss Paul Simpson said: “I’m delighted to get Terell into the club. We’ve been working on this for a number of weeks.

“I think he’s a fantastic addition to the squad, he’s got good experience of playing in English football, he’s a full international, he’s just come back from competing in a couple of games for Saint Lucia where he captained the team, so he’s got leadership qualities.

“I’m really looking forward to seeing him working with us.”

Thomas played 40 times for Charlton last season but was one of two notable defensive releases from Charlton, with Michael Hector also not offered fresh terms.
