Charlton Athletic defender set for League One switch

Charlton Athletic defender Sam Lavelle is set to join League One rivals Carlise United on a permanent deal.

The 26-year-old spent the second half of last season on loan at Burton Albion.

Dean Holden has already bolstered his defensive options this summer, with Terell Thomas and Michael Hector penning new deals this summer. The Addicks have also picked up free agent Lloyd Jones from Cambridge.

Lavelle joined Charlton from Morecambe in August 2021. He has made 41 appearances in all competitions during his time at The Valley.

Carlisle won promotion to League One last season following their penalty shootout win over Stockport in the League Two play-off final.
