Charlton Athletic injury news ahead of derby at Brentford

Lee Bowyer says rotation of his squad is the only way to avoid his Charlton Athletic side picking up injuries or looking jaded.

The Addicks head to Brentford tomorrow evening aiming to bounce back from a 1-0 loss to Millwall on Friday night.

Bowyer made seven changes to the team which had drawn 0-0 at Cardiff City last Tuesday.

Charlton’s only absentee is left-back Lewis Page (groin).

“We’re fine – there are no new injuries,” said Bowyer.

“We’re managing the squad well and using our subs at good times. Most of them aren’t really going beyond what they can do.

“The problem you’ve got is if you start pushing too much. I saw the quotes from the Luton manager [after their 5-0 home loss to Reading] – he went with the same team because they had a good result in the fixture before.

“We’re not going to be able to do that, especially with how hard our boys work in games. If I’d put the same side out after Cardiff then we’d never have been able to match them [Millwall] physically.

“With lots of our lads’ injury records it would be a risk if we try and play them.”
