Charlton Athletic keeper faced Brazilian superstars Neymar and Vinicius Junior

Charlton Athletic goalkeeper Joe Wollacott faced some of world football’s biggest names on Friday night.

The Addicks number one was away on international duty with Ghana as they lost 3-0 to Brazil in Le Havre, France.

The South American side scored all of their goals in the opening 40 minutes of the friendly.

Marquinhos headed in from a corner in the ninth minute with Wollacott initially straying away from his goal-line but unable to reach the ball in time.

And then Tottenham striker Richarlison doubled Brazil’s advantage with a superb curling strike after being found by PSG superstar Neymar.

And the pair combined again for the third goal on 40 minutes. Neymar whipped in a free-kick and Richarlison met it at the near post to power it beyond Wollacott. Real Madrid’s Vinicius also featured for Brazil as they created 21 chances, nine of those on target. Their opponents only had 36 per cent possession and one shot on target.

Ghana are back in action on Tuesday evening against Nicaragua in Spain.

Wollacott, 26, is set to be first choice for his country at the World Cup finals, which start in November.

Craig MacGillivray replaced him for Charlton’s 3-1 defeat to Barnsley on Saturday.

Wollacott is expected to come straight back into the Addicks’ starting line up for this weekend’s home game against Oxford United.
