Charlton Athletic loanee the victim of racist abuse – St Johnstone report incident to Police Scotland

St Johnstone have issued a statement expressing their anger at racial abuse directed at Charlton Athletic loanee Diallang Jaiyesimi.

The winger is still contracted to the Addicks until the end of the season but joined the Scottish outfit in the summer transfer window.

Jaiyesimi was sent off in Tuesday’s night’s 2-0 defeat to Rangers.

“We are aware of a racist tweet circulating online that was aimed at Diallang Jaiyesimi tonight after his red card against Rangers,” said St Johnstone in a statement.

“We firmly stand with DJ in this matter and are appalled that this unacceptable behaviour still exists in 2023.

“We will pass this onto Police Scotland to investigate.

“Say no to racism.”

Jaiyesimi saw red for a challenge on John Lundstram. The 25-year-old, who started his career in non-league and played for Dulwich Hamlet, has made just seven Premiership appearances. Jaiyesimi scored in a 3-1 loss to Celtic in October.
