Charlton Athletic make double goalkeeper recall move
Charlton Athletic have recalled Ashley Maynard-Brewer and Nathan Harness from their loans at Gillingham and Bromley.
The Addicks need extra goalkeeping options with Joe Wollacott out for a number of weeks with a broken finger which has required surgery. Even if he had been fit, the stopper was set to be part of Ghana’s World Cup squad and manager Ben Garner would still have needed to look at that area of his squad.
Maynard-Brewer joined the Gills in July on a season-long loan but dislocated his shoulder soon after. The Australian was initially expected to be out until December but has been back with Charlton’s U21s in recent weeks.
Technically Maynard-Brewer was still on the League Two club’s books but Charlton have now formally cancelled that arrangement.
Harness signed for Bromley on a 28-day loan on October 25. He has not featured for Andy Woodman’s Ravens despite an expectation that there would be regular game time in the National League.
Craig MacGillivray came into the Charlton team for last weekend’s 3-3 draw at Burton Albion. Wollacott sustained his injury in the warm-up which has dashed his hopes of playing for the Black Stars in Qatar.
