Charlton Athletic midfielder following manager’s orders after being asked about their play-off prospects
Scott Fraser is making no statement about Charlton’s prospects of a late surge for the League One play-offs.
The Scot has been in fine form for the Addicks, scoring in their back-to-back wins over Portsmouth and Lincoln City.
Charlton’s focus is now solely on their league campaign after a 3-0 defeat at Manchester United in the EFL Cup quarter-finals on Tuesday night.
Next up on Saturday is sixth-placed Barnsley at The Valley. The Tykes are nine points clear of Dean Holden’s side and have two matches in hand.
“We’ve got to take it game by game – that’s what the gaffer is very big on,” said Fraser, who did post-match press after the Old Trafford tie. “A couple of results ago people were talking about us looking over our shoulder. It shows you how quickly football can change – particularly in our league where we play Saturday-Tuesday quite a bit.
“You can win three games in a week and your season completely flips on its head.
“The gaffer has come in and made us a bit more solid. We still play out from the back, we had spells even tonight [at United] of good passages of play. We’ve had two good league results and we’ll be looking to back that up again this Saturday.”
