Charlton Athletic midfielder sat out League One action as he followed concussion protocols

Terry Taylor is set to be back available for selection after the Charlton Athletic summer signing missed last weekend’s win over Wycombe with concussion.

The former Burton Albion player was brought on and then subbed off in head coach Michael Appleton’s first match at the helm, a 1-1 draw at Stevenage earlier this month.

“He had concussion symptoms after the game and went straight to hospital,” said Appleton. “It was a little bit different to Alfie (May) in terms of the protocol, in terms of his return to training.

“He will be available for the squad this weekend. He’ll definitely be with the group this week and back end of the week. As long as there are no side-effects or ill-effects from the initial injury – whether dizziness, blurred vision or whatever – then he will be fit and available.

“He had a bit of claret. He had three or four small lacerations over the eye as well, which suggest it might also have been a blade-type boot, whoever had caught him on the eye. You can visibly see them now when you stand next to him but over time I think he’ll be fine – I don’t think he’ll have too much bother with his looks, over time!”
