Charlton Athletic offer new deals to Joe Aribo and Tariqe Fosu – and price tag for Blackburn target Bauer set to scare off bidders

BY RICHARD CAWLEY

Charlton have offered new deals to Tariqe Fosu and Joe Aribo – and have also put a £2million price tag on Blackburn Rovers target Patrick Bauer.

German centre-back Bauer is going into the final 12 months of his contract at The Valley and a national newspaper report over the weekend stated that the Championship new boys were looking to strike a deal.

But instead it seems that owner Roland Duchatelet has set a valuation which will scare off potential suitors.

And Addicks caretaker boss Lee Bowyer has revealed that the plan is to reward Fosu and Aribo with extended terms.

“We’re not the only team where if players do well then other clubs become interested,” he said. “It is just a fact of football.

“Patrick has done well. Joe Aribo has done well. Jake Forster-Caskey has done well. Tariqe has done well. Ezri [Konsa] has done well. Those boys are going to be looked at.

“I know the owner is negotiating with Tariqe and Joe at the moment, because they are assets for us.

“Patrick has done well. But the owner has put a price tag and it is whether a team is prepared to pay that. I can’t answer that.

“Patrick has had a good season and that has brought interest in him, which is understandable.”

  • Be great to bring in a higher quality of players in ! But making the squad smaller don’t make any sense to me ! It’s a long hard season playing Saturday & Tuesdays 😬 knew it was too good to be true that evidently RD was going and the Australian mob where taking over ! The senile Belgium t… won’t be happy until he’s finally finished our club off 😡😡
