Charlton Athletic plan domestic pre-season training camp

BY RICHARD CAWLEY

Charlton manager Nigel Adkins will not be taking his squad abroad for his first pre-season training camp.

The Addicks boss has sorted a return date for his squad, although that could shift slightly depending on if they reach the play-offs.

The Covid-19 pandemic adds some uncertainty about travel issues and Adkins said: “We’re not even going to think about going abroad.

Everything will be done in the UK. Pre-season is a very important part of the season, it lays the foundation for what we want to do throughout the season.

“Having three or four days away from the training ground breaks up the pre-season period but also keeps everyone living together 24-7. We’ve always found we can get in valuable training too.”
