Charlton Athletic “really dominated” Huddersfield Town in big win at The Valley

Huddersfield Town caretaker boss Jon Worthington admitted his side were “really dominated in areas” in yesterday’s 4-0 loss at Charlton Athletic.

The Addicks would need a major implosion to now not go on to secure a League One play-off place after an emphatic victory in SE7.

Tyreece Campbell scored twice for the hosts with Matty Godden and Greg Docherty also netting.

Worthington was placed in charge of the Terriers’ remaining matches this season after the sacking of Michael Duff earlier this month.

Godden headed Charlton in front just 30 seconds into the match.

“We started really slowly and it was a disappointing goal to concede – the lads never really recovered from that,” said Worthington. “I’ve spoken to the lads and I’ve been really honest, we didn’t win enough first and second balls and a times we got really dominated in areas – which was very disappointing.

“We can accept conceding a goal but our response to get back into the game…we never did enough.

“Did I think after last week (a 5-1 win over Crawley Town) it would be all roses? Absolutely not. Unfortunately we were short in a lot of areas.

“The positive for me is that a game comes on Tuesday. After Charlton got beaten by Peterborough they reacted and responded. We have to do the same.”
