Charlton Athletic recruitment chief confident goalkeeper deal is close – and expects Aribo and Lapslie to re-sign

Charlton Athletic head of recruitment Steve Gallen has revealed that Dillon Phillips is close to signing a new deal.
The goalkeeper is due to be out of contract in June.
But Phillips has won back his starting berth since Aston Villa recalled Jed Steer, leaving January addition Chris Maxwell on the bench.
Gallen told Love Sport Radio: “Dillon Phillips, I think we’re very close to having a deal.
“It is something being discussed with his agent.”
Gallen is also confident that Joe Aribo and George Lapslie, both free agents in the summer, will also pen extensions.
“There have been discussions with George’s agent and I don’t think that’s far away,” he added.
“I’m confident Joe Aribo signs a new contract.
“I’ve sat down with his agent a few times and been texting. We haven’t had a focus on it the last few weeks because of all the other things going on in the window.”
Gallen also made it clear that Nicky Ajose, on loan to Mansfield Town, has no future in SE7.
The former Manchester United and Swindon man is out of contract in June.
“We, I mean us a club, get a few quid if they get promoted,” said Gallen. “If we bring in one, or hopefully two, this week then hopefully they will be more suited to Lee.”
