Charlton Athletic season ticket sales hit same levels as this stage of summer in 2022

Charlton Athletic have sold nearly 6,500 season tickets for the 2023-24 campaign.

The figure is pretty much the same total as at the same stage of the summer in 2022.

Some fans had called for a boycott on purchasing their seats while Thomas Sandgaard was still the owner.

It was confirmed earlier today that the US-based Danish businessman and SE7 Partners, have signed a sales purchase agreement over a sale of the League One club.

Charlton chief executive Peter Storrie said: “We’d like to thank all the supporters that purchased a season ticket in phase one and those who have already purchased since season tickets went back on sale on Monday morning.

“The season ticket sales are very close to where we were at a comparable stage last season and we’re hopeful that the work we do this summer will encourage more supporters to purchase their ticket for the 2023-24 season.”

The Addicks have yet to make a signing in the close season although the transfer window does not officially open until June 14.

They have tabled a bid for Cheltenham striker Alfie May.

Gloucestershire Live broke the news last week that Charlton had formalised their interest in the attacker, who turns 30 next month.

May has Kent roots, having been born in Gravesend.

He scored 22 goals in 46 matches in all competitions for Cheltenham last season and has 66 goals in 165 appearances for the club.

May has one season to run on his deal but Town also hold an option of a further 12 months.

He scored against Charlton on the final day of the last campaign and admitted afterwards to Gloucestershire Live that he had his heart set on a move away.

“There will be a lot of question marks over my future now, but whatever happens, the club knows it’s got a special place in my heart,” said May. “You never know in football and I would honestly love to finish my career here, but I want that next move.”
