Charlton Athletic sign former Reading and Dons loanee Tennai Watson on two-year deal

Former Milton Keynes and Reading full-back Tennai Watson has signed a two-year contract at Charlton Athletic.

The former AFC Wimbledon loanee is the Addicks’ first bit of business on what is set to be a busy final day of the transfer window.

Watson is Charlton’s eighth addition of the campaign.

Addicks technical director Andy Scott told the club’s official website: “Tennai is a player I have been aware of since his days at Reading.

“He is a young defender with all the attributes we are looking for in a full-back. He is athletic, technically sound, defends well and enjoys getting into forward areas.

“He is hungry to come and challenge for the full-back positions against our two very talented players already at the club in Nathan Asiimwe and Tayo Edun. In those three we have competition for places with exciting, young, hungry players with excellent attitudes and ambition.”

Watson added: “I’m really pleased to have signed. Charlton are a big club with an ambition that aligns with mine. The main thing for me is to get playing, try and impact the team in as positive a way as I can and, as a group of boys, achieve something this season.”
