Charlton Athletic still in negotiations with Adam Matthews and Jake Forster-Caskey

Nigel Adkins has confirmed that Charlton Athletic are still in talks with Adam Matthews and Jake Forster-Caskey.

Both players will become free agents tomorrow.

Right-back Matthews, 29, has played 58 matches for Charlton.

Forster-Caskey won the club’s Player of the Year award. The midfielder suffered cruciate knee ligament damage towards the very end of the 2020-21 campaign.

“I want Adam to stay and I think Adam wants to stay,” Adkins told the South London Press. “Negotiations go on – that’s where we are with it. I spoke to him Saturday, he wants to be at the club. I want him to be at the club.

“With Jake Forster-Caskey, the negotiations are going on with his contract as well.

“This is what happens. Stevie Gallen, Ged Roddy and the owner…they are doing all the business side of it.”
