Charlton Athletic striker has ‘picked up something’ – missed last two League One matches
Charlton Athletic striker Chuks Aneke is a doubt for their League One match against Carlisle United on Saturday.
The forward has not featured in the Addicks’ last two matches.
Aneke played four successive games for the South Londoners in February but all as a substitute.
The former Arsenal and MK attacker was ruled out in October with a hamstring problem which sidelined him until early 2024.
“He has picked up something,” said Charlton manager Nathan Jones after Tuesday’s 3-1 win at Cheltenham Town.
“We can never rush anything with Chuks because he’s a different specimen to other people. We have to be careful. He’s not available and that’s it.”
Rarmani Edmonds-Green was replaced by Lloyd Jones in the 65th minute of the Cheltenham Town match and was down on the turf before he made way.
“All we’re doing is we’re in a hotel or a bus or training or playing,” said Jones. “That’s all we’re doing at the minute.
“There’s going to be fatigue. They’re going to have bumps and bruises. We want to be aggressive, they’ve giving me everything. It’s natural.
“We’ll just dust them down. We’ll hardly train. We’ll do a bit of tactical work Friday and then we’ll be ready for Carlisle. Then we’ve got five or six days before the next game so we can give them a bit of a rest.”
