Charlton Athletic Supporters’ Trust believe Addicks in “crisis” after breakdown in board relations

BY RICHARD CAWLEY

Charlton Athletic Supporters’ Trust met with Addicks chief executive chairman Matt Southall yesterday – and have issued a statement saying that it has not alleviated their fears that the Championship side are in crisis.

Addicks majority shareholder Tahnoon Nimer is threatening to legally remove Southall from his post.

There has been an astonishing public airing of grievances by the Syrian businessman, who has pulled his funding until Southall steps down from his role.

It has emerged that the EFL have yet to fully endorse the January takeover by East Street Investments and that they had also put the SE7 outfit under a transfer embargo in the last window as the governing body had not been satisfied yet on source and sustainability of funds.

Southall has said that Charlton have enough cash to run until December without Nimer’s backing.

He has also defended the renting of a central London flat which is costing £150,000 a year, claiming it is for the use of club officials and not just by himself.

CAST said: “We remain extremely concerned that Southall and Nimer are at loggerheads over the future of the club and we fear this will lead to a messy and potentially protracted legal dispute.

“The meeting, although lengthy, has done nothing to change our view that the club is in crisis.

CAST chair Richard Wiseman said: “We thought it was all over once Roland was gone but it is very clear that that is far from the case.”

Further to your meeting with Southall, May I ask what is going to happen to the flat hired by ?

“the club” should get shot of it even if it means sub letting. the club cannot afford it, it is as

simple as that.. also a set of Range Rover cars ? how many. we cannot afford that. Can anyone

tell us who has the upper hand legally between the two parties? one of them we have been

told is a ex estate agent with a different name, So far these allegations are unproved.

    WHO CAN WE TRUST?

I have read the statement put out by the club this morning, Please advise me who, in the club

    is responsible for the statement.

After supporting the club for over seventy years I am bitterly disappointed at the current

situation. I have been through all sorts of things with this club, too numerous to go into details

now, nothing compares with what’s happening today !

Now we hear Southall has sacked 3 CAFC employers including liason officer Tracey Leaburn. The power has gone to he’s head the sooner he is gone the better.
