Charlton Athletic v Rotherham United team line-ups: Matty Godden makes first start

Matty Godden makes his first start for Charlton Athletic in today’s League One home game against Rotherham United.

The former Coventry City striker, who signed for the Addicks for an undisclosed fee in the summer, replaces Tyreece Campbell.

It is the only change made by Charlton manager Nathan Jones after last weekend’s 2-0 defeat at Reading, which ended the South London club’s 100 per cent start to the league season.

Former Luton Town defender Dan Potts, signed yesterday on a short-term deal until January, is named as a substitute.

Dillon Phillips, who won promotion with Charlton from League One in 2019, starts in goal for Rotherham.

The Millers are on a miserable away run.

They have lost each of their last 11 away league games, the longest such current run in the EFL. The Millers have also failed to score in their last eight away league games – their longest ever run in the EFL.

Charlton: Mannion, Ramsay, Gillesphey, Mitchell, Jones, Small, Coventry, Docherty, Berry, Ahadme, Godden. Subs: Maynard-Brewer, Campbell, Potts, Aneke, Edmonds-Green, Watson, Campbell.

Rotherham United: Phillips, Rafferty, Kelly, James, Powell, Nombe, Clarke-Harris, Wilks, Odoffin, Humphreys, McCart. Subs: Dawson, Bramall, Hugill, MacDonald, McWilliams, Osong, Hungbo.
