Charlton Athletic Women set for further player investment in January transfer window

Thomas Sandgaard has indicated he is set to invest further in Charlton Athletic Women’s team in the January transfer window.

The Addicks are sixth in the FA Women’s Championship and lost 3-2 at Crystal Palace last weekend.

Charlton went full-time over the summer with owner Sandgaard targeting winning promotion to the Super League.

The South Londoners are at home against London City this afternoon.

“They started the season just as they ended last season [in good form],” said Sandgaard. “Now they’ve had a couple of rough games [in the league]. So we are obviously looking at potential recruitment to the squad in the January transfer window.

“But Karen [Hills, manager] has done an outstanding job in putting this together. We went over the summer from pretty much nearly nothing to a full-time professional team. They have their own parts of the training ground now with nice facilities. They are also integrated with the rest of the club as well.”
