Charlton Athletic Women set to be missing players for Championship fixture against Blackburn

Charlton Athletic resume their FA Women’s Championship campaign with a home game against Blackburn on Sunday – with boss Riteesh Mishra still missing players who are self-isolating.
It will be the Addicks’ first action in just under a month. Crystal Palace postponed their derby clash before Christmas due to Covid-19 cases. Mishra will be without Ella Rutherford, who was sent off in the 2-0 defeat to Leicester City last month.
“We have got a few players who were isolating over Christmas and we have got a few new cases,” said the Charlton manager.
“We are not going to have a full squad available but we feel like we will be okay. We have got secure and safe protocols in place and are keen to play.
“The hard thing is we’ve not been able to build any momentum and that means every game we go in a little undercooked. We have to accept that. You can do as much training as you like, but that can’t compete with matches.”
Charlton are bottom of the table but are only two points behind London Bees and Coventry United – and have two matches in hand.
“We’ve not really had much luck with games being called off,” said Mishra, pictured right. “But on the plus side our squad is getting stronger. We are able to bring in a few players who will really help us in the next part of the season and we’ve got key players coming back to full fitness.
“We have competed and been in every single game, it’s just been small margins that have not gone our way. We’re working hard to get two or three players in this January window, most likely on loan.
“We have got a really good group. I’m confident by the end of January or mid-February we will be out of the situation we’re in, then we can have a decent finish.”
Crystal Palace head to London City.
Both games are 2pm starts.
