Charlton boss Bowyer knows Karlan Grant is greatest threat in Huddersfield’s team as striker prepares for Valley return

BY RICHARD CAWLEY

Karlan Grant heads back to Charlton Athletic tonight for the first time since his transfer to Huddersfield Town – and Lee Bowyer knows all about the South Londoner’s finishing qualities.

The Greenwich-born forward, 22, has netted 11 times for the Terriers this season.

Grant has 15 league goals in 24 starts for Huddersfield.

He had scored 14 times for Charlton in the first half of last season before he was transferred – opening his Premier League account in their home defeat to Arsenal.

Grant went on to net another three times for the doomed Yorkshire club as they lost their top-flight status.

He had been sent out on loan to Crawley Town when Karl Robinson was in charge at Charlton. Bowyer brought Grant straight into the first-team fold at the start of the 2018-19 campaign and the goals flowed almost instantly.

Asked about the good habits that the Addicks management team drummed into Grant, Bowyer replied: “He’s taken it there. I’ve been watching their games – he scored a good goal against Bristol.

“It was basically everything we taught him to do. His movement was excellent – he came in the side and passed it in the corner.

“He’s doing well for them. He’s their biggest threat.”
