Charlton boss cools talk of deal for AFC Bournemouth midfielder

Charlton manager Lee Bowyer has confirmed his interest in Nnamdi Ofoborh – but reckons the Bournemouth midfielder will have options to move to a club at a higher level.

We exclusively revealed that the 21-year-old, who is a free agent at the end of the campaign, was wanted by the Addicks.

But Bowyer told our paper today that Ofoborh, capped at U20 level by Nigeria, is unlikely to be heading to SE7.

“I like the player but it’s not going to be realistic bringing him here,” he said.

“There are a lot more attractive offers for him at a higher level and even some abroad as well.”

Charlton are hoping to add a signing in time for Saturday’s home game against Swindon.

“We’re working hard to try and bring someone in and we’re hopeful we can do that before the weekend,” said Bowyer.

  • So it would appear that Ofoborh is not the player that Lee Bowyer said the club were slow in bringing in and would have been in the squad to play Peterborough. So who is this mystery player ?. As mentioned above, Charlton hope to have another player in time for the Swindon game, so was it him that they did not get in time for the ‘Posh’ match?. Perhaps we will see today !
