Charlton boss gives verdict on Championship trip to Luton Town
BY RICHARD CAWLEY
Lee Bowyer has called for his Charlton Athletic side to be defensively switched on at Luton Town tonight.
The Addicks have not won in five Championship matches and have an injury crisis – with 11 players missed for the trip to Kenilworth Road.
Bowyer said: “It is a difficult place to go. They do well at home, it’s a tight pitch and a good crowd.
“They try and play. [James] Collins (pictured) up top is always a threat. It’s going to be a tight game.
“They pose threats but we’ve just got to defend properly – if we do defend properly then we’ll win games. At the moment we’re switching off at vital times and it’s costing us.”
Luton have lost four of their eight league matches at home this season.
Collins told the club’s official website: “Our home form needs to improve, but we are good at home under the lights in front of the crowd. We know all about Charlton from last year, they’re a very good side and for me, the three best sides went up last year.
“We know all about them, we watched them this morning [Monday morning] and we’ve got a plan and we need to execute it to get three points on the board.”
