Charlton boss Lee Bowyer on his introductory chat with potential new Addicks owner Thomas Sandgaard

Lee Bowyer has confirmed he did meet potential new Charlton Athletic owner Thomas Sandgaard after Saturday’s friendly at Crystal Palace.

The Danish businessman is in advanced talks to buy the Addicks and was sat in the Selhurst Park directors’ box next to director of football Steve Gallen.

Sandgaard, who is based in Colorado, flew into the UK on Saturday and is planning to spend at least eight days here – by which time he hopes to have hammered out an agreement to acquire the League One club.

Tomorrow is set to bring telling developments with Paul Elliott seeking an injunction in a Manchester court to prevent Panorama Magic, who own East Street Investments, from selling the club to any other bidders.

Elliott failed the EFL’s Owners’ and Directors’ Test but has appealed that decision.

The action is brought by Elliott’s company Lex Dominus against Panorama Magic.

If the injunction were to be rejected then it would leave the path clear for Sandgaard to swoop.

“I met him briefly after the game and he came across a nice man,” Bowyer told the South London Press.

“He didn’t go into detail about what was happening behind the scenes but he said he had a few things to tie up to get things done.

“It was more just an introduction. He enjoyed the game and I said to him: ‘Don’t worry – I’m hoping that we’re going to be a lot stronger by the time we start the season or by the time the window finishes than what we are today’.

“The first hour we did okay [against Palace] but after that you saw how weak we were.”
