Charlton boss not ruling on-loan Chelsea teenager out of Ipswich match
Ian Maatsen has yet to be ruled out of Charlton’s home game against Ipswich Town on Saturday.
The on-loan Chelsea teenager, 19, came off in the 66th minute of last weekend’s 2-1 victory at Sunderland.
Left-footed Maatsen has made 33 appearances for the Addicks this season and had been employed in a wide right role at the Stadium of Light and also at Doncaster, where he scored the only goal.
Charlton manager Nigel Adkins told the South London Press on Tuesday: “We’ll have to see, because Ian Maatsen came off in the last game. He’ll be one we’ll check through the course of the week.
“He was feeling something in and around his hip. It will be a soft tissue strain of some description. We’ve got an excellent medical team here. Fingers crossed for the weekend.”
Adkins also felt it was unlikely that Conor Washington or Chuks Aneke will be available to face the Tractor Boys, who lost 3-0 at AFC Wimbledon last night.
“It’s been nice to see Chuks and Conor doing a little bit out on the grass,” he said. “I would probably suggest it is a little too soon for Saturday, but we’ll wait and see.”
