Charlton chief provides injury timeline for influential defender Ryan Inniss

Ryan Inniss is facing another two weeks of waiting before he finds out if he can step up his return.

The Charlton centre-back has not featured since the start of November due to a quad injury.

The former Crystal Palace defender’s absence has been keenly felt with the Addicks conceding 18 goals in their last nine matches.

“Ryan has got to go for another scan, maybe two weeks from now,” said Charlton manager Lee Bowyer. “It was 10 days since his last scan.

“The frustrating thing for Ryan and all of us is that he is not feeling any pain anymore and is outside jogging but has to wait now for this scan to make sure it’s clear.

“These are the experts. With me I’m thinking ‘you have got no pain – you’re alright!’

“But the experts are saying: ‘You have to do this right. You can’t just rush him back’. We don’t want to do that and lose him again. We have to go off the guidance of the people doing the scans.

“If that next scan comes back clear we can push on with him.”
