Charlton defender expected to miss visit of former club Portsmouth

BY RICHARD CAWLEY

Jason Pearce is not set to feature for Charlton in Saturday’s home game against his former club Portsmouth.

The experienced centre-back has been struggling with an ankle injury, with Addicks boss Lee Bowyer deciding to rest him altogether from the 1-1 draw at Doncaster last weekend.

Bowyer, speaking on Thursday morning, said: “I don’t think he is going to train today from what I heard on Tuesday.

“It’s disappointing if he isn’t in the squad.

“But Josh Parker (virus) comes back into the squad. It did him the world of good to sweat that cold out last week.”
