Charlton forward Jayden Stockley sent to specialist to assess hip complaint

Charlton forward Jayden Stockley has been sent to see a specialist to assess the extent of his hip problem.
The Addicks’ top-scorer was missing from the side beaten by Wycombe Wanderers at The Valley on New Year’s Day and played no part in this evening’s EFL Trophy triumph over Milton Keynes.
Manager Johnnie Jackson is still waiting for clarification on how long he’ll be without his talisman – who has bagged 14 goals in 25 appearances in all competitions so far this season.
“Still managing that,” said Jackson when asked if he had an update on Stockley.
“He’s gone to see a specialist today, so we’ll have to see what the outcome of that is. It’s a bit of a strange injury at the minute. Around his hip area. We have to get it right; we have to make sure we don’t lose him for any longer period of time by putting him at risk. It’s with the physios, they’ll report back to me tomorrow or the next day and we might have a bit more clarity on that.
“I am [confident it won’t be a long-term injury]. I don’t want to put a timeframe on it. Hopefully it’s nothing too serious. The specialist will know a bit more than I do – I don’t really know what I’m talking about. I’m hopeful that he won’t be out for too long.”
