Charlton handed midfield selection boost ahead of Swindon Town match

Ben Watson looks set to be back in Charlton’s squad for Saturday’s home game against Swindon Town – with Albie Morgan also boosting their midfield options.

Former Crystal Palace man Watson has been sidelined with a hamstring strain.

Morgan sat out Tuesday’s 2-1 loss at Peterborough United after his late dismissal at Bristol Rovers.

“Ben Watson will train today and Albie will be back,” said Charlton manager Lee Bowyer. “Slowly but surely we are getting people back. Akin [Famewo] is back outside running, he has been out there for a couple of days now. We’re hopeful by this time next week he starts training. That’s the plan with him, as long as there are no setbacks outside.”

The Addicks have no fresh injury concerns after their midweek exertions.

And Chuks Aneke should be in line to start in SE7.

Bowyer has been careful with the club’s top-scorer, due to his previous issues. But Aneke had started two matches in a row before coming on at Peterborough.

“It was good he got another 30 minutes into him and got through that,” said the Charlton chief.
