Charlton have more Covid-19 cases – but working to get Boxing Day match at AFC Wimbledon on

Charlton Athletic are working to get their Boxing Day derby at AFC Wimbledon on – but have had additional positive Covid-19 cases since the weekend.

The Addicks were the only South London club in England’s top three divisions to play at the weekend as they lost 1-0 at Plymouth Argyle.

Manager Johnnie Jackson confirmed afterwards that Conor Washington, Akin Famewo and Josh Davison were all unavailable after testing positive. Head physiotherapist Adam Coe was also forced to isolate.

Charlton are due to resume training at Sparrows Lane tomorrow as they prepare as if the fixture at Plough Lane is going ahead.

Jackson only found out about Washington, Famewo and Davison being out at the end of last week.

“If we’d have known earlier on in the week, you’d prepare a different way,” the Addicks boss said on Saturday. “But we’d done all of our match prep with those guys in mind. We lost them later on in the week and it disrupts your preparations. In Akin and Conor, they’re two really important players in the first 11.

“Our physio Adam Coe is not here, he’s missing out as well because he’s having to isolate. I need to liaise with him and find out what the protocols are. When exactly they tested positive and how long they have to wait.”
