Charlton manager Lee Bowyer issues update on injuries to Alfie Doughty and Chuks Aneke

Charlton will have a nervous wait to discover the extent of Alfie Doughty’s knock during the win at Northampton – but boss Lee Bowyer has revealed that Chuks Aneke should not be missing for too long.
Doughty was withdrawn midway through the second-half of the 2-0 victory at Sixfields after picking up an injury following a burst down the right-hand side. Aneke missed out completely after suffering a groin problem in the process of scoring the Addicks’ winner at Blackpool on Tuesday evening.
“We’re not sure if it was cramp or hamstring,” Bowyer said when asked about Doughty’s issue.

“We’ll know more in the next 24-48 hours. That’s the game. They’re the things we can’t control. Alfie did really well for the second goal. Ben [Amos] did excellent for the second goal. Collected a cross and then released Alfie. Hopefully it’s not too bad with Alfie.”
On Aneke, the Addicks boss said: “I don’t know if you’ve seen the goal [against Blackpool] back but the angle that his leg is at as he headers the ball, it was up round here. Would have probably been over my head.
“He had to get his body into a funny position to score. We’re hopeful he’ll be back for next weekend. It’s not bad, it’s just a little tweak. We missed him today.”
