Charlton manager Lee Bowyer on Birmingham City’s attacking threats
Lee Bowyer is aware of the attacking threats in Birmingham City’s squad – with the Charlton Athletic manager feeling only one moment of quality settled the reverse fixture in SE7.
The Addicks can take a big step towards safety with victory at St Andrews this evening with the hosts winless in 11 Championship fixtures and having lost their last four.
Charlton have taken one point from a possible 12.
Bowyer – linked with the Birmingham job after the departure of Pep Clotet – said: “They are a good side. Look at their front two – Scott Hogan and [Lukas] Jutkiewicz, he is one of the best strikers in the league.
“Up top they can hurt you. They scored four goals against Leeds [a 4-5 defeat] in a crazy game. They’ve scored three in matches quite a few times this season as well.
“They have got some clever players. The young lad [Jude Bellingham] who scored against us at our place – he was the only difference when I watched that one back. If anything we edged it in the way we played but they nicked that goal on the break. There wasn’t much in it.
“I believe we can win the game. The players will know that by the time we get there. We had a chat on Monday and the preparations started then.
“It is a big game but they are all big games now. None is bigger than another.
“It doesn’t matter how you get the points, you need to get the points to keep you up.”
