Charlton manager provides positive news on Lyle Taylor’s rehab progress

BY RICHARD CAWLEY

Lee Bowyer reckons Charlton striker Lyle Taylor is “ahead of schedule” as he works his way back from knee ligament damage.

The Addicks forward has missed the last five matches after suffering the injury while on international duty with Montserrat.

Taylor was expected to be out for between eight to 10 weeks and is still in a leg brace.

“From what I hear he is ahead of schedule,” said Bowyer. “He says he feels good. He has got a little bit of pain but he is still in the leg brace for another week.

“In the next two weeks we’ll be looking to get him outside and start running. That is the plan for the build-up process. It’ll be a little while before he is back with us.

“We can’t just rush him back. The last thing we want is to rush him back, something else happens and he is out for another eight weeks. We have to do it the right way with him.”
