Charlton midfielder has new international boss
Charlton midfielder Karoy Anderson will have a new international boss next time he links up with Jamacia’s national team after Steve McClaren was named the new head coach of the Reggae Boyz.
The former England 63-year-old has signed a two-year contract and left his role as assistant coach to Erik ten Hag at Manchester United.
Addicks 19-year-old Anderson has eight caps under his belt for Jamacia after being handed his debut in October 2023.
Ex-QPR boss McClaren failed to guide England to Euro 2008 during his stint as Three Lions manager.
“I am extremely proud and excited to take up the position of head coach for the Jamaica men’s national team,” McClaren said.
“Although the opportunity has come somewhat unexpectedly I had no hesitation in accepting a position that is ideally suited to me at this stage of my career.
“The target for Jamaica is to qualify for a place at the World Cup, hosted in the USA, Mexico and Canada in 2026. This is a challenge that we as a team will strive to deliver during the upcoming qualifying campaign.”
