Charlton midfielder hopes Barnsley brace will play on Nathan Jones’ mind – with Wrexham up next
Charlton midfielder Luke Berry hopes his brace in Charlton’s 2-2 draw with Barnsley on Tuesday night will play on Nathan Jones’ mind ahead of Wrexham on Saturday.
The Addicks were 1-0 down in the first half following a goal from Barnsley forward Davis Keillor-Dunn.
Berry came on in the 62nd minute for Terry Taylor and netted in the 77th minute.
The ex-Luton player thought he had won all three points when he scored in the 93rd minute, but the hosts equalised a minute later through Max Watters.
Jones’ side host Wrexham on Saturday at The Valley.
“We think we had the winner so late on,” Berry told CharltonTV.
“I don’t know what it was, but 30 of 40 seconds later, they’re scoring for an equaliser.
“It’s gutting, but a point away [from home] is not the worst result.
“I always like to pick up goals – that’s four for the season – I’ll keep picking them off.
“I like sniffing off [shots from] Miles, TC and Godders, just trying to find where they drop.
“Thankfully, two of them did. I always want to be starting, so hopefully, it’s given the manager something to think about.
“The main thing is trying to help the team get results. It’s another game where we haven’t lost and picked up a point.”
