Charlton skipper Jason Pearce’s return delayed after injury setback
BY LOUIS MENDEZ
Charlton captain Jason Pearce has suffered a setback in his quest to return from a knee injury.
The central defender picked up a knock during the summer break that was expected to rule him out for up to two months. That timeline would have seen him gearing up to return to action around now but manager Lee Bowyer says that he will now have to deal with a further delay.
Bowyer said: “I don’t know. [when Pearce will be back]. He should have been training with us this week but ended up getting a slight calf strain. He hasn’t even trained with me. He hasn’t even come back with me and he’s broken down which isn’t good.
“Frustrating because I want everyone back as soon as we possibly can. Jason, I don’t know how long he’ll be out for with this calf but hopefully not too long.”

Starting to sound a bit deja vous from last season already. Pearce and Gilby out for a few weeks. Need more bodies in and get the newcomers up to speed (Madison, Watson etc not forgetting the somewhat jinxed Aneke ) ASAP.
Hoping for a couple of good signings in the coming days. A good point today, but clearly Charlton are in a rebuild mode, but we don’t want to fall too far behind the early leaders.
