Charlton winger will cost millions if clubs come knocking in January transfer window

Charlton boss Karl Robinson is confident that Tariqe Fosu is not looking for a January move – and has warned it would cost huge sums if clubs come knocking for the flying winger.

The Wandsworth-raised wideman, 21, made it six goals in his last four matches by striking in Tuesday’s 1-1 draw at Oxford United.

Fosu – signed from Reading in the summer – looks a shrewd piece of business by the Addicks.

The South Londoner has netted seven times in the 2017-18 campaign and is developing into a star attacker.

Robinson said: “If people come to watch us at the moment, the reason Tariqe stands out is because he is an unknown quantity.

“A young winger who is scoring goals automatically comes on the radar of people.

“I went to watch Arsenal’s kids play Sunderland on Monday night and I sat with Tariqe’s agent. He couldn’t be any happier at the moment and said it is not about him looking for a move – it’s about doing the right things to enhance his career.

“It is the same agent as Ademola Lookman had. We’ve had reasonably decent control of most things.

“I’m quite confident if someone wants to come and get him it is going to cost you millions. I know that for a fact.”
