Chelsea attacker looks set to miss out on England squad through injury
Chelsea attacker Cole Palmer is likely to withdraw from the England squad due to injury.
The former Manchester City academy graduate has been replaced by Nottingham Forest midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White, who was added to the England squad on Sunday evening.
Palmer, who has failed to score in his last seven Premier League outings, picked up an injury in training prior to Chelsea’s 1-0 defeat at Arsenal on Sunday and missed out on the clash at the Emirates.
“I don’t think [he will be fit for England] to be honest,” Blues boss Enzo Maresca said after Sunday’s loss.
“His injury is from yesterday’s session. It’s a muscular problem, the scan is planned for Monday morning.
“We don’t wish for a player’s injury but in Cole’s case at this moment, probably give him some rest physically and mentally it could be good.”
