Chelsea complete Filip Jorgensen transfer – goalkeeper pens seven-year Stamford Bridge deal
Chelsea have signed Danish goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen from Villarreal for £20.7million on a seven-year contract.
Jorgensen made 37 appearances for Villarreal last season after becoming the first-choice goalkeeper. He kept six clean sheets in La Liga.
The 22-year-old is expected to compete for Chelsea’s number-one position with Robert Sanchez, with Djordje Petrovic looking set for a move away from Stamford Bridge despite becoming first choice last season under Mauricio Pochettino.
Jorgensen has flown to the United States to join Chelsea’s pre-season tour after passing a medical.
“This move is a dream come true,” said Jorgensen. “I am very excited to have signed for Chelsea, one of the biggest clubs in the world.
“I can’t wait to get to know everyone and to start playing with all my new team-mates.”
