Chelsea midfielder has Championship courters – and form at Charlton is helping attract attention

BY RICHARD CAWLEY

A host of Championship sides are keen on Conor Gallagher – but Lee Bowyer is expecting the Chelsea midfielder to stay at Charlton.

The Blues have the option of ending the 19-year-old’s loan stay in SE7 in January.

Gallagher scored his sixth Championship goal of the season in Saturday’s 2-2 draw with Cardiff City.

His form for the South Londoners led to promotion to England U21 duty – and he netted against Albania.

“He is getting a bit of everything here,” said Bowyer. “Winning, losing, the atmosphere – the way we play suits him.

“I would be very surprised if Chelsea did take him away and put him in another Championship side – we’re still only six points off the top six.”
