‘Clear’ – Fulham boss believes Crystal Palace midfielder should have seen red in FA Cup defeat

Fulham boss Marco Silva felt Crystal Palace’s Adam Wharton should have seen red in their 3-0 FA Cup quarter-final defeat on Saturday.

The Eagles midfielder, who was named in the England U21 squad over the international break, was booked for a foul on Willian after 14 minutes.

Rodrigo Muniz went down minutes later after suggesting that Wharton kicked out at the Brazilian striker.

But referee Darren England ignored any claims for a second yellow and Palace went on to win comfortably.

“For me it is clear, it’s a second yellow card,” said Silva to ITV.

“But we are used to these kinds of situations.

“I prefer to say we are unlucky but it has been a long story with us.

“Of course, VAR cannot overturn this decision, but you have many eyes inside the pitch.

“The linesman has all the angles to see it, and the fourth official. It is definitely a clear second yellow card.

“It would have a massive impact on the game, but against us, it is always more difficult to see.

“We have been unlucky in these types of situations and let’s hope it will be balanced at the end of the season.”
