Consistency key as Charlton Athletic midfielder confident that Addicks can be contenders in 2023-24 campaign
Aaron Henry is confident that Charlton Athletic can be promotion contenders in League One next season.
The Addicks have endured two difficult campaigns as their hopes of even reaching the play-offs have been extinguished months before the finish line.
But midfielder Henry, who signed a new two-year contract last week, feels that some of their displays last season show they can produce so much more.
“As a group, staff and players included, we’d all say that we have under-performed in the last two years and haven’t been consistent enough,” he told the South London Press.
“That’s the big thing – the consistency. We have shown we can perform against the top, top clubs. The 2-0 win over Barnsley and a really comfortable win over Shrewsbury.
“If we stick at that level throughout the season, instead of bits and bobs, then we’ll have a right chance.
“With the players we’ve got and hearing the plans from the manager, moving forward, I think this season we can push to be right at the top of the table and hopefully have a really good year, not only for us but for the fans as well.”
