Croydon Harriers’ high jumper moves into number one for her age group after Tooting Bec meet
Croydon Harriers’ Ella-Jaide Wilson moved into now number one in the UK for her age group in the high jump after an impressive outing at the South London Athletics Network meeting at Tooting Bec last Sunday.
The 12-year-old’s previous best height of 1.45m saw her ranked equal to 11th in the UK for the year.
She cleared comfortably over all heights from 1.43m to 1.55m.
Wilson failed her first attempt at 1.58m but jumped successfully over at her second attempt.
Still keen for more, she tackled 1.60m but without success. Had that been cleared, she would have achieved an all-time top-20 spot.
Meanwhile, at the Gillingham Open meeting, two older Croydon Harriers, 800m runners Kyra Sethna McIntosh – U23 – and U20 Kyron-Bailee Burke, displayed ongoing good form, although unplaced, with respective times of 2:19.16 SB and 1:57.39.
