Croydon Harriers round-up: Lucy Cole highest-placed Croydon finisher at Surrey Young Athletes Cross-Country League

U17 girl Lucy Cole was the highest-placed individual Croydon Harrier at the Surrey Young Athletes Cross-Country League at Nonsuch Park, Sutton.

She placed 13th in a field of 87. 

The club’s other finishers were U15 Aida Palomares Dominguez, 38th in 18:16, and U17 Caroline Kennefik, 74th in 20:20.

The club’s U15-17 boys’ team, predominantly comprised of younger age group runners, closed in an encouraging 10th of the 16 squads. 

They were led home by the tigerish Francis Bambury, who finished halfway up the field in the 50th spot at 15:53. 

Fellow U15 Elliott Peacock, next home at 65th, had a pleasing run clocking 16:34.

The Harriers’ spirited team effort was completed by U17 Sean Leahy, 68th in 16:40, U15 Luke Basauskas, 85th in 17:39, and U15 Zephyr Walinets chasing hard, just eight seconds adrift 86th.

Ivan Thellusson, 29th of 59 finishers in12:44, kept the Croydon flag flying among the U13 boys.
