Croydon Harriers strike multiple gold medals in Multi Events Championships

Three Croydon Harriers young athletes’ 4x100m relay teams successfully headed the clubs’ medal chase in the Surrey Relays and Multi Events Championships at Sutton Arena last weekend.
The U13 boys (Micah St Clair, Camden Campbell, Ife Davids and Kavin Mills) and U15 girls (Alison Omergie, Kelly Ajahi, Kaiya Ashity and Shivelle Marshal) and boys (Nzia Burrell, Aiden Semayah, Isiah Easy Riley and Farrell Fabusiawah) all struck gold.
All three teams won comfortably, and an added bonus was a creditable fifth spot taken by an enthusiastic U15 girls’ B team.
The boys’ times were 49.44sec and 44.2sec, while girls’ teams registered 49.5sec and 50.44sec respectively.
These times elevated the boys to top and third in the UK rankings, while the girls rose to seventh.
Terry Lapins took a valiant third in the 3k steeplechase despite carrying an Injury.
The club multi-eventers participated to good effect across the age groups with the insatiable V 65 Ian Statter placing second and winning his 3k walk category representing Surrey Walking Club and U15 Arabella Howard, making her debut did well in seventh.
Jim Eccles V35 tackled the decathlon as did team-mate V35 Mike Smalley.
