Croydon Women get back to winning ways with emphatic 4-0 win against Milford & Witley

By Jason Casey

Croydon Women got back to winning ways in the Surrey Premier Division after an emphatic 4-0 win against mid-table outfit Milford & Witley.

The Trams dominated throughout with too much pace for their opponents from deepest Surrey.

Sarah Nicholson opened the scoring for the South Londoners after meeting Siane Frances Duncan’s cross inside the area and volleying beyond Delphine Adburgham.

Carina de Souza Goncalves then doubled the Trams’ lead, controlling the ball and firing a shot on the turn past the busy Milford keeper.

De Souza Goncalves then bagged her second and Croydon’s third before the break, meeting Kacie Nadison’s cross with a low drive into the net.

Croydon picked up their fourth in the second half when Z’Goria Boret teed up Nadison just in front of the goal to rubber-stamp all three points.

It was a comfortable win after two very hard matches. However, the Trams may rue not scoring more if goal difference counts at the end of the season.

This win keeps the Trams 2nd in the league table. Up next is an away game at 3rd-placed Sutton United reserves.

POTM: Carina Da Souza – Showed the others how to finish.

The Development side play Queerspace on Saturday at Tooting Bec Common. 12pm KO. The winner takes the Clapham League Div 2 Title.
